Beans, beans...

(All baby plants look like Muppets to me)
---
These are scarlet runner beans. Aren't they cute? Flowers are edible, bean pods are too- you can eat 'em like green beans. Apparently when dried, the beans themselves taste a lot like butter beans. I love how they all are coming up at once, like somebody flipped a switch.
.
I've set up a bamboo-pole teepee above them, and I'll add string supports as soon as they get a little bigger. Can't wait to see how these babies grow.

Ahhh how cute. Mine didn't flip like a switch. I think I planted them too deep.

This is not a plat I've had trouble with before.

Hold on here just a heck of a minute. That is NOT the same picture as yesterday. Those beans are bigger now ... wadda ya feedin' them? Oh ... don't bother, we know.

Ooooh, oohh oooh ooh oooh! I ordered some seeds yesterday and can't wait for them to arrive. I'm digging up the flower bed in my south-facing front garden ready to fill it with food, so to speak. And now I've cleared away tons of ivy, my snail population has dissapeared, so my long-established current bushes are un nibbled.

did you get any beans off these plants? for two years I have planted these and I get lots of great flowers but no beans. However it was nice to hear I can eat the leaves and flowers.
