Can you believe this dragonfly? She just sat there on the basil for a long time, and let me get very close to her with my camera. There was a storm coming our way; I guess she was hunkering down.

Ok, so I have zero idea whether this dragonfly is male or female. But whatta looker.

Wow. I have never had anything like that in my veggie patch. Glad you got a shot of it.
It is a good year for dragonflies! I've seen several kinds that I've never seen before. My favorite so far was bronze-colored with clear wings with strong black bars across them.
