Farewell, appendix

(Buh-bye)
---

It's been dark in here for a while, because early last Friday morning I awoke with a bad pain in my lower right-side gut. I had an inkling it was my appendix-- and so it was. I was admitted on Friday night, and the horrid little bacteria-filled thing was out by Saturday afternoon. In the interim, I've been lallygagging around on the sofa for a week, mostly sleeping the stone-dead sleep which can only be brought to us by Vicodin. Sadly, I was half-watching through one heavily lidded, well-drugged eye while Obama was being sworn in on Tuesday. "Q: So, where were you when Obama became President? A: On my sofa, recuperating from an appendectomy." Blah.

As of yesterday, I can sit up for longer than 30 minutes at a pop. My incisions itch and I'm getting bored, so I must be marching towards "better".

I have to say, when you didn't post for the inauguration I kept hoping all was well. Forgive me for not inquiring. Yes, when the itching starts that's the turn around point. Take it easy, my friend. Write us when you feel better and lallygag all you want. Take care.

Oh, ouch. That's no fun. At least you're already up on kraut; that fermented stuff will keep the innards populated and perkin' once your backup for good bacteria is bye-bye.

Oh my goodness! Take care and get well soon!

My Husband just had his appendix taken out in December.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Oh, whoa, ouch, but thanks for letting us know what was up, or rather out. Homeopathic Arnica can help speed recover, even when taken somewhat after the event.

Sorry your weren't able to enjoy the inauguration as much as you wished. Good to hear that you're beginning to feel better and I hope the recovery continues. All the best!

I had mine out 2 years ago. Did you get the three holes or did you have to be opened up? After about 2 weeks it gets better - I promise. Just don't lift anything heavy for two months - I made that mistake and was back in for a re-glue of one of the holes.

OUCH! Glad to see you are on the mend. (Who fed the bunns?????)

Might be a Michigan thing .. my sister-in-law in Grand Rapids just had the same thing! "Oh yes, well here in Michigan in the Winter we have nothing else to do so we sometimes get our appendixes out to break things up a bit."

Rabbit Saint- HAHAHAHAHA!

Divakitty- Three (now very itchy) holes, not one incision. Apparently the incision method is reserved for 2 occasions these days- very heavy folks, or if the appendix pops. Mine did not pop, and I'm still relatively thin (even if I've increased two sizes since getting married, ugh). I really wanted to request some lipo while they were in there, but I figured they'd heard that request only about a gazillion times, so I thought better of it.

D Moll- I am curious about this arnica. Wonder if it will keep me from itching. the itch this morning is just beastly. BEASTLY, I tell you.

Arnica may help with the itch, it speeds healing, you can but try......arggg beastly....sounds soooo uncomfortable.....

Yay for itchy incisions! I lallygag and I don't even have a handy appendectomy excuse. In other news... Obama was inaugurated? (ducking and covering now!)

I trust by now you're well on the way to recovery...sorry you missed the inauguration but...happily this prez not only can speak in complete sentences without smirking, but he understands web 2.0 and ... egads, he's having youtube briefings, how sensible is that in this era? so ... although it's not as exciting as 'being there'... you can still re-watch - and I do recommend watching his speech. :)
thinking healthy thoughts your way, if belatedly...
